FAQ

What is Colon Hydrotherapy?

Colon hydrotherapy is a safe, effective method of removing waste from the large intestine, without the use of drugs. By introducing filtered and temperature-regulated water into the colon, the waste is softened and loosened, resulting in evacuation through natural peristalsis. This process is repeated a few times during a session.

Why should I concerned about my colon?

The colon has been referred to as the sewer system of the body. It is the place where we store the waste material that most of us would rather not think about. A healthy colon produces Vitamin B, and K, and absorbs water. A healthy digestive tract helps support a healthy immune system.

Plenty of water should be taken as well as water content foods, like leafy greens vegetables, the days prior to your colonic to help your body rehydrate. It is recommended to stop drinking 1-2 hours before the colonic, to prevent a full feeling or having the need to urinate during the session.

A session is a comfortable experience for most people, however, if discomfort is experienced, the session can be stopped at any time. Techniques utilized allow a a small amount of water to flow into the colon, gently stimulating the colon’s natural peristaltic action to release softened waste. The inflow of a small amount of water and the release of waste may be repeated several times. The removal of waste should encourage better colon function and elimination.

During the session, most clothing can be kept on and you will be draped, or a gown might be worn to ensure modesty. Your dignity is always maintained.

How long is a session?
The first session may last over an hour. This includes the review of your holistic questionnaire and explain the process step by step. The colonic itself can last anywhere from 30 – 45 minutes.

What are the Benefits?

In the holistic field some research has found that the most basic benefit you will get from colon hydrotherapy is a cleaner intestinal tract. Over time, the tract becomes built up with aged fecal matter, mucus, gas and becomes a breeding ground for bad bacteria and toxins. As this material builds up, a number of ailments can occur, from short-term problems like constipation to a more serious problem like colon cancer. Encouraging the body’s healthy intestinal movement can restore the immune system and strengthen one’s health.

Because colonic hydrotherapy can remove the excess build-up of waste in the colon that prevents the expelling of new waste material, it can usually clear up constipation. Regular bowel movements should begin immediately after a colonic and will continue freely as a result of the cleansing of the colon. Another common problem with the gastrointestinal system is diarrhea. Bad bacteria (food poisoning) and toxins that build up in the colon can irritate the body’s systems and prevent the proper hardening of waste materials. This can result in diarrhea. Because a colonic removes the bacteria, it is also an effective treatment for diarrhea.

What are the Side Effects?

Some of the side effects clients may feel are: weakness, nausea, vomiting, hunger, flatulence, fatigue, dizziness, abnormal energy, etc. These side effects are mainly caused by the congestion in the body from lack of: elimination, hydration, oxygen, toxins from food – medication – drugs…and so much more. A side effect that is not experienced is thirst since the body is hydrating during a colon hydrotherapy session. Most people only feel better with each session.

How does the colon respond to Colon Hydrotherapy?

1.Cleanse the Colon: Breaks down waste materiel to prevent harm to your body or inhibit assimilation and elimination. Your colon can begin to co-operate again as it was intended. In this sense, a colonic can be rejuvenating.

2. Exercise the Colon Muscles: The build-up waste weakens the colon and impairs its functioning. The gentle filling and emptying of the colon with filtered water improves peristalsis (muscular contraction) by which the colon naturally moves material. Having Colonics is like taking your colon to the gym with a personal trainer.

3. Reshape the Colon: When the colon is challenged with different conditions, it tends to alter its shape because the colon is a muscle and it will enlarge or tighten because of the buildup of toxins are not being released. The gentle action of the water, coupled with body work techniques of the colon hydrotherapist, help eliminate bulging pockets of waste and narrowed, spastic constrictions finally enabling the colon to resume its natural shape.

4. Stimulated Reflex Points in the Colon: The colon is the main site of our defense mechanism. We have more lymph nodes in our gut than anywhere else in our body. When you move the colon with hydration, elimination and pressure points the lymphatic system allows the connection to every other systems and organs in the body to release, thus encouraging overall well-being and health in the body.

5. Hydration of the Whole Body: Water is absorbed into the body through the colon via the hepatic portal system. This in turn enhances the blood circulation which helps the toxins move out; relieving possibly toxemia and uremia; and increasing elimination both through the kidneys, and the skin as well as the bowels. This generally assists the cardiovascular and circulatory systems to be more efficient.
